The Golden Dream
I am James Oliver, living at William Brittan with my 3 other flatmates. I am a skier and enjoy this sport in my life.
I would like to share some exciting news with you all: I got what I hoped for—a gold medal. I was selected for the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy this year. Before I start my story, I would like to mention the hard work I put in to achieve this moment. I practiced at the gym three days a week with a special trainer, along with staff support, and followed a special program to prepare for the games.
I went to Italy with other team members to participate in the Olympics event early this month. I was prepared to compete and win. The golden day finally came. I put all my efforts into winning the medal and completed the Slalom event in just 44.580 seconds, securing the gold medal in that event. I was so happy and filled with emotions after winning the medal. My family and friends were very proud of me. My parents were there to support me, and I had great support from them.
I had a very nice welcome at Christchurch Airport by my friends, family, and staff. I am thankful for all the support from everyone involved in my journey.
Thank you
James Oliver
