Queenstown Holiday for Anne and Howard
With a multitude of planning completed, rental van packed and excitement running high, Anne, Howard and two staff members set out on a journey from Christchurch to Queenstown.
First stop was Lake Tekapo for a picnic lunch in the van. It was too cold to get out. Here we discovered we had left the box of food at home! A small detail which did not deter us. We still had the delicious picnic lunch prepared by our lovely night staff. We arrived at Gilmore Lodge just on dark and quickly unpacked and had dinner after a grocery shop at Cromwell.
Out and about the next morning exploring the town centre then out for a ride on the Earnslaw. Howard sat right up front enjoying the view and Anne particularly enjoyed the sing-a-long on the return trip.
Unfortunately we were unable to fit wheelchairs into the gondola or through the entrance to the Ice Bar but this was soon forgotten with the fun of other activities. Dinner at the Irish Pub before first class seats at a production of “Annie”, brunch at the Ballarat and a sightseeing trip to Arrowtown, Frankton and Kelvin Heights.
On Friday evening, tired travellers arrived home about 6.30pm after a long trip through heavy rain and strong winds.
