Number 4 and 6 Bennington Way are 2 new modern properties opened in December 2012 in the Wigram Skies housing subdivision, in Hornby. They are both six bedroom homes and offer a very modern, spacious, open plan living area with lounge, kitchen and dining area. Each person has their own bedroom which is personalised and unique to their own choice.
The main living areas are very comfortable and practical and also include items and furnishings which are important to the persons living there, whilst creating a sharing environment.
Although the gardens are very new and at present have only a few shrubs, we have some very willing, green fingered gardeners who have already got stuck into lawn mowing duties and are now ready to start planting some flowers and hopefully some veges.
Both houses currently support five people on a 24 hour basis and we have also introduced some technology that provides a non invasive support system that encourages and promotes independence but maintains a safe, monitored environment. The support staff are a trained, experienced team who are enthusiastic, motivated and very committed to providing a good quality service that meets the individual's need, according to their choice and aspirations.
The team are skilled at keeping persons up to date with information relevant to their daily living and adept at keeping everything calm, relaxed and smooth running and keen to resolve any problems that people may encounter, coming up with great ideas that can make a persons life much more fulfilled.
Most people attend day vocational service but also have other interests within the community. We are looking forward to encouraging and supporting people to find new activities and community venues so the people can join and meet new friends with similar interests, as well as continuing links with friends already made.
Friends and families are always made welcome to visit any time, particularly to celebrate birthdays and special occasions, which are always an exciting time, with good times enjoyed by all.
